Open Hearts by Kate Bull arrived in the post today which "details the development of heart surgery in children.. and patients, past and present, whose lives have been transformed." From first glance it is not just an account of pioneering medical advances, rather it bears witness to the reality of living with a heart condition from birth. An important documentation of life lived at the tentative, sometimes overwhelming, forefront of medicine. I was proud to contribute, albeit in a tiny way. I look forward to reading it, even while I know it is going to be yet another emotional journey.
Thank you Kate, for sending me the book and for telling our story.
